Working for a small-town newspaper involves a lot of writing. I started out by covering municipal and county meetings earning the reputation of “sitting through boring meetings, so you don’t have to.” The most common comment on my early work was people feeling they were at the meeting, without giving up their spare time.

I quickly expanded my writing to cover the people and events of Johnson City. By building relationships through the community I was able to share in their trials and triumphs by telling people’s stories and immortalizing them in newsprint.
